Gott Mit Uns is the German form of the phrase God With Us. This phrase has been used across Europe, from the Roman Empire to the Russian Empire, from the armies of Germany to the war cry of the Swedish Caroleans.
Resolute atop our concept is the Reichsadler, or Imperial Eagle, which takes its origins from the Roman eagle standard. Over the centuries it became a very prominent heraldic symbol of European empires, often with two heads. Examples of use are found in Austria, Germany and Russia, while earlier examples were common in the Holy Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire.
